Newell Beach And Wonga Beach

Much forgotten, these two pristine locations offer the holidaymaker something that other, now popular destinations, had but have long since lost. This is probably because to date they have not been commercially exploited. For some this could be seen as a disadvantage, but if your idea of a vacation in paradise is endless sandy beaches surrounded by rain forest covered mountains with cascading crystal streams running into azure waters, then look no further.

Just an hour or so drive north of Cairns International Airport along The Captain Cook Highway (considered by some as the most spectacular scenic route in Australia) you go past Port Douglas, a destination of international renown, on through the rural "sugar town" of Mossman to first Newell and then Wonga beaches.

However, you won't be isolated. There is a golf club, selection of small family run restaurants as well as corner shops full of locally grown produce, its all here - just not on a grand scale. For the adventurous, the Daintree rainforest is on your doorstep as is the Great Barrier Reef. Mossman Gorge is a great afternoons escape, as a guest of the Traditional Custodians you will be introduced to all the wonders of the Rainforest including its foods and medicines.
